how do you drink your tea.. suck or pour?

half the country tries to slurp and suck it vertically out of the cup.. while the other half tilt and pour it into their mouth.

i came back from lunch early today cause i was left sitting listening to the former :mad:

The correct etiquette is two sit upright with saucer in left hand and gently tip cup hand 45 degree angle sipping away to our hearts content ,making sure elbow is in the slanted postition . We dont want our precious tea spilling all over our tweed suit now do we ? ....goddness gracious no .

Does anyone else remember when aul wans used to pour some tea from the cup into the saucer and let it cool before drinking from the saucer?

surely the use of the word "too" should mean that it's not ready to drank.. ie. add water/milk/patience.

i don't even drink tea much but i know i'm quiet when i do.

The correct procedure is a hybrid of both. Here's a handy guide to figure out the optimal position for you.

Begin slurping and then slowly tilt the cup towards you until the slurping sounds cease. That's the basic tea drinking stance. You obviously need to gradually tilt the cup more as the liquid diminishes.

Once you get used to it, you'll no longer need to begin from a slurping position. You should be able to find the sweet spot straight away.

I hate slurpers. If it's too bloody hot don't bloody drink it yet. If you're really enjoying your cup of tea say "I'm really enjoying this cup of tea" don't advertise your pleasure with a prolonged slurp, exaggerated swallowing noise and loud exhalation-USE YOUR WORDS!!!!
