VRT Mistake on BMW M3?

I was thinking of buying a BMW E36 M3 after viewing a nice one in the North. I went through the options on ros.ie and think I spotted a mistake.
The car I looked at is the 3.0 but it looks like the 3.2 is cheaper. Can anybody help? The 3.2 costs €1346 and the 3.0 costs €2388 to import. There is only 1g difference in the Co2 and a difference of €1042 seems alot. I've copied the forms below.

They're valuing the 3.0 as being worth more than the 3.2, it's nothing to do with emissions as they're both in the top band. I'd hazard a guess that the 3.0 is rarer and there probably hasn't been one imported for some time whereas the 3.2 is more common and imported more often so therefore there has probably been appeals about their valuation and a corresponding reduction in their valuation.

Maybe but that seems RediculArse to me. The only difference is the engine bore, apart from that the cars are the same. Do you know where they get their valuations for the omsp from? The OMSP hasn't changed on this type of car in over a year.

OMSPs are all over the shop, I was looking at the VRT on a 330Ci, look at the differential between a Sport and a Clubsport!

Yeah I see what you mean. What are Revenue at? That is RediculArse. There is probably someone in there changing the rates on the system to accommodate their Mates. I think they call it Mates Rates. I've seen E36 M3's being sold by dealers with Irish plates for less than 5500€ and yet ROS.ie gives an omsp of 6634€!!!! Wonder how to get it changed?

I believe you would have to pay the inital quote and then seek a rebate, I'm sure someone else can clarify if this is the case. I'd also be wary of the cheaper M3's, could wind up costing you a pretty penny in the long run. TBH, 6.6k isn't the worst, I imagine that figure would have been much higher a year or so ago.

No it hasn't changed since June 08. Before then it would cost 1800€ to import

Didn't find that much use. Am I missing something? What I would really like to know is who the clown is that sets up the omsp on the system and does anybody know how you could point out their obvious mistakes to him/her?

Sorry Man, I've been looking for over a year and I want a 3.0

Why exactly do you want a 3.0 over a 3.2 evo???

the 3.2 give vanos problems if not looked after, and even if they have been looked after they need to be replaced at around the 80-100k mark iirc and the cost is 2000 euro give or take. (its a double vanos unit.)

the 3.0 M3 is cheaper motor tax per year.

the 3.0 is supposed to be a stronger engine, and that along with the single vanos unit, easier to maintain.

Thanks. I was going to give the same answer. Also I'm looking for a 93 or 94 model as they were all hand built and will qualify for classic insurance before a 95 will.

AFAIK 3.0's have been dearer to VRT for quite some time, as in a few years. I remember looking at them a long time ago and it was the same. No idea why though.
