1/4 inch (phono) jack for my PC

I have just started using Linux MultiMedia Studio after years of using Cubasis VST, and want to start recording vocals and guitars. But the 3.5mm inputs on the back of my Creative Audigy 2 is not helping. I used to have the Live Drive, but between changing PCs I never brought it over and the Live Drive went to the dump with the rest of the old PC. (I thought I would never need it again).

I know that I can get a converter to change from both but I find these things messy. What's the quickest/cheapest way of setting myself up with a 1/4 inch input? Can you get an interface card for this.

I would love the X-fi Pro but cant afford at the moment. This would solve all my problems.

X-fi Pro is massively overpriced for what it is. Just get yourself one of the plethora of cheap PCI audio interfaces out there. Keep a look out on adverts, MOTU or M-Audio cards are up fairly frequently.

Thanks for the advice guys, I will look up what both of you said.

PMI, I had a look at the M-Audio Delta 44, but was a bit worried that as it is a soundcard (as opposed to just an interface) that is may cause confusion for my DAW. Before I disabled my onboard soundcard, my DAW got very confused. I dont want to solve one problem and introduce another.

Why you say "for what it is" jim, it's got great reviews from everywhere I've looked. Cheapest I saw was €237 on Dabs.ie

It's a fancy consumer level card gilded with gold plating and a 'sexy' black PCB. I have yet to see someone ever use one in any sort of a home studio. For the same money you could get something like

    http://www.thomann.de/ie/m-audio_delta_1010lt.htm

if you were relegating yourself to PCI cards. If not then even something like

    http://www.thomann.de/ie/maudio_fast_track_pro.htm

would be a marked improvement on the X-Fi given what you're going to be using it for.
