Mods; If this is an inappropriate forum, feel free to move it, thank you.

    Hey lads,

I have been going through my budget this morning and i have decided to make a few cuts.

Setanta costs me €22 per month. Now i think this is value for this season, English Premiership 08/09. Im a United fan and Setanta seem to have almost ALL United's Saturday games.

Now, i think i heard somewhere that Setanta have lost much if not all of the rights to the premiership for the next season.

Can anyone confirm this or shine some light on it, €22 a month adds up at the end of the year..

They will have the same amount of games next season. it is the season after next that they will show less.

Next season they will show the same number of games i.e. 2 X 23 game packages for UK and ROI plus the 33 Saturday 3pm games for ROI only. From the season after next they have lost one of their two packages of 23 games (mainly Monday night kick offs I think). I do not believe the rights to the 33 Saturday 3pm games has been announced yet but I am open to correction.

thats because the ROI rights have still to be determined. they may yet loose that package too or they may even outbid sky on some of the packages.,, who knows. I dont think rte will be in a position though to bid for the 3pm saturday matches due to their financial position at the moment.

I dont think there is too much of a problem with them being renewed in Ireland. Sky would rather have Setanta as a competitor as they know their budget is limited. If Setanta were to fold and another big company like ESPN were to come in. This would jack up the price of the rights as SKy would have some firm competition.

The funny thing about the rights in the UK is , Sky didnt really want those monday games as they are usless and they will not make any money from them. Thats why they tried to sell them back to Setanta.

You might be paying too much.
I've had Setanta for nearly 2 years now and never paid more than half price per month.
Their retentions department is very good ( unlike Sky's ) and they will offer you a deal.
I'm currently on half price for 6 months.
10.99 per month is pretty good value compared to Sky Sports.
