Rest Day - Opinions Wanted

Just wondering what folks opinions are here. I started back at the gym in Jan, doing lots of running as i knew that worked for me to drop the lbs i wanted to drop...along with a better diet too.

So 3 months on and i have dropped the lbs i wanted and in the last couple of weeks have started mixing it up with weights to do core excercises, squats etc and have noticed incredible gains as far as feeling more solid even with one day of weights a week - now the plan had been to do 2 days a week but for the past couple of weeks we had paddys and then a weekend away etc so i have actually put back on a couple of lbs - did some weights yesterday and not only did I lose those lbs put on but lost an extra 1! Anyway - it is coming off the remains of the beer gut so quite happy about that...enough of my rambling - my question is whether my proposed training (see below) is ok or should I put a rest day in between the 2 weight training days to ensure my body is recovered for the next session?

    Mon : football
    Tue : weights
    wed : 4/5 mile run
    thu : weights
    fri : 4 mile run

are sat and sun rest days already?

please tell me you stretch for at least 10mins after every session?

sat and sun are rest from the gym days but i wouldn't call them rest days no ;)

After the weights I run a mile to warm down - never had the need to stretch that much tbh, always been pretty flexible and running is usually enough to keep me ok.

Your training plan looks good to me, although I would add an extra day weights on a saturday if you can. Also, keep the intensity of the weights sessions up. I see so many lads who spend half their workout time resting. Get the heart rate up and keep it up. I suggest doing either super sets (bench press and Lat Pull down with no rest between) or a circuit type of workout.Best of luck with it
