At a loss...

Hoping I can get some helpful hints.
I work as a store manager and I hate my job. Beyond belief. It has begun to affect my life in general in a fairly destructive way and I need to get out.
My problem is I only have experience in retail/sales area, which I really want to get out of.
I have applied for a number of jobs on the usual websites (irish jobs, monster, etc), and either heard nothing back, got calls about jobs which are pretty much the same as what I am doing now or recieved the infuriatingly polite rejection email.
I'm running out of ideas on where to try. I'm not looking for a career (as I just started a part time college course) and I would pretty much do any job if it meant I could earn a decent wage and not have to deal with the general public.
Any ideas would be very welcome!
