    wel lads,

i play a good bit of team sports (particularly gaelic football) and i would like to improve my speed and acceleration. i know this can be achieved through weights/plyometrics/etc. so should i just focus on these or would i be better off getting in touch with a sprint coach?

have any of ye used a sprint coach recently? how beneficial did you find it? what sort of cost per session are we looking at?

obviously i want to be as fast as i can but at the same time i don't want to shell out a rake of money if it isnt going to drastically improve my speed and acceleration.

any suggestions at all will be appreciated. thanks in advance

There are very few sprint coaches in Ireland and none of them will charge as its done voluntarily. However, as they will be coaching athletes they will be unlikely to take you on a one and one basis as they will have big committments to their existing athletes. The best way to get access to a sprint coach would be to join up with their training group and get some benefit there. Best place to find sprint coaches will be at the tracks around the country. While there are few sprint coaches there are some excellent ones who have coached multiple olympians and even european and world medalists.

Where are you based and I could make a suggestion.

Alternatively you could try some of the strength and conditioning coaches who will charge but while these will not have the expertise outside of a gym of a sprint coach they may help. I don't know how much they charge.
