Engine warning light flashing on Focus

Engine waning light on my 00 Focus 1.6 petrol just starting flashing there as I was coming home from the shop. It felt like I would not make the 3 mile journey home, just no power at all and a rough feeling on the road. And when I stopped the car after arriving home it had crackly noises coming from engine. I'll have to get my mechanic to have a look tomorrow but I would like to know what people think this might be as I don't think it sounds too good.

    What mileage on it?

Sounds like it could be a faulty injector!

    120k miles. Is a faulty injector serious/expensive?

good chance its the coil pack, common failure on the focus. easy to replace and not too expensive, but needs to be diagnosed first.
Drive it as little as possible, if the coil pack is gone , it can damage the CAT which is expensive.

Cheers magician. The coil pack actually packed up in my buddy's 99 Focus a while back so I'm hoping its this. Just need to drive it 4 miles to my mechanic in the morning, hope I won't do any damage.

Coil pack is a fairly well documented issue with the MkI Focus. Your car probably is in limp home mode which it is designed to do to prevent serious damage. Get it looked at by a mechanic as soon as you can.

It was in fact the coil pack was the problem, so thumps up lads. DIAG report €30, Coil Pack €65.92 and labour €30. Total including vat was €142.91 and ready within the day, so not too bad I suppose. Its the only problem I've had with the car to date and have it nearly 3 years now.
