what speed sessions are good for 10k training ? how many spped sessions should u do in the week ? should you vary the types of speed sessions week to week ?
anyone know any good informative sites on 10k( or distance ) training plans that explain the reasons for different sessions ?

I know Im pimping this book like nobodies business but Daniels running formula really is great if you want to see the purpose of each workout and the best way to perform them (and why you perform them that way).

I found that having the following was best for me.
    1. Tempo runs (started with 2 x 1 mile @ 5 mile pace) increased it to 2X2 mile now @ 5 mile pace).
    2. Sets of 800 or 1k upto 5-6 reps. I found these great although i've dropped them from my plan at the moment.

If you want a good book that will give you not just good workout plans but also a good backround to all aspects of running i would recommend the lore of running it fairly heavy goin but will explain the reasons behind easch seesion and the pitfalls etc.

    Hi Seres,
Racing Flat recommended this to me and I have started doing the runs on here last week. This might help. Given that you are doing triathlons too, the 3 day plan could fit well for training.
