    Hi,
Just wondering are all LNB's the same for reception in relation to whats been picked up from the satellites in space?

If I understand what you mean, yes. They do data too.

I meant down in South of Spain where reception of i think Astra 2 is weak someone suggested using a "Viacom LNB" in order to enhance reception and i just thought all LNB's do the same job but i'm no expert.

Well, there would of course be some small variation in sensitivity between different brands of LNBs but it would be insignificant compared to factors like dish size, alignment, the ability to keep spiders out etc.

As Onikage says, dish size is a much bigger factor.

The Invacom quad-output LNB is recommended for southern Spain (Alicante area), Cyprus etc. where a dish greater than 2m is required. The Invacom quad apparently has the best cross-polar rejection characteristic.

If it's fine tuning you're after, consider changing the receiver too. But certainly start with the dish.

    Dish.

The only other issue is NOT sensitivity, but linearity/AGC. In Spain some of the satellites on 28.2E are strong and Astra 2D on 28.2E is weak. So for this reason some combinations of receiver/LNB are a little better. But simply having next size up dish is hugely more effective and if the reception is poor, it's still going to vanish at certain times or in rain no matter what LNB/Receiver.

    Dish is the thing.
