Just wondering does anyone know the law as regards to employees being put on 3 day week e.g How long can you be left on 3 day week before you are offered full time work back again or offered redundancy, how is your 3 day wages calculated,etc....any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    How long? For ever.
Moved back? When the company feels like it is needed.
Redundancy? Only if the position is no longer needed.
Salary? 60% of the weekly salary assuming 3 instead of 5 day working week.

There is nothing special in the law with going to 3 day week, it is a new contract between yourself and the employer and that is the end of it.

They can hardly do it as 60% of the 5day week. Once you are part time they can't pay you a salary. You are paid per hour. You can verify that with your company and find out how much per hour you are earning!

    Of course they can.

Beyond what Seamus said care to explain why you expect a difference between getting paid 60% of the weekly salary (i.e. 3 days a week) compared to getting paid 24h a week (which is also 60% of 40 hour week)?

There can be all sorts of situations where 3 days/week is not the same as 60% or 24 hours/week.

    For example:
    - job that was six days/week (48 hours)
    - job that was six days/week (6 hours/day, so 36 hours/week)
    - some of the cut days were at the weekend or at night, so paid premium rates
    - if the hourly rate included some sort of shift allowance
    - if the hours/day are irregular (eg Mon - Thurs = 8.5 hours, Fri = 4 hrs)

And these are just the obvious ones.
