I've applied for Jobseekers. Still haven't gotten it but I get the equivilant by our locial social welfare officer. I'm told by him that I am entitled to collect this up until I get paid. However I have gotten a job in England and I am going to be going next thursday week. I wont be able to collect it or the other payments so how do I do this as I will need it to live and pay for my travelling expenses etc until I get my actualy wages?

Can I arrange it so that my dad could collect it and then he could stick it in the bank and I could withdraw it abroad?

Edit: should probably add its been about january that I've been on jobseekers.

Go to the exchange before you travel. Show them your tickets, show them the letter or whatever you have offering you the job and sign off. They will be able to send you a cheque for what you're due.

If you're desperately short of cash you can go to the relieving officer, SWO, health board or whatever they're called around your way to get a payment to tide you over until your unemployment comes through.
