Hi folks, will be collecting my car in Uk next month and it will be classified as a new means of transport. Has anyone experience of VAT form 411? Does it have to be filled in four times as the form on Her Majesty's website would suggest or can a carbon copy form be sourced from them where form would only have to be filled in once with three carbon copies being produced??

When I was buying mine the dealer wasn't aware about the 411 form and didn't have one. I had to point them to Her Majesty's website. They weren't too sure at first but I explained that buying VAT free was very important to me and a dealbreaker if they couldn't process a 411 form. Before collecting the car the dealer faxed over a copy with their portion filled in. I then filled in my details and faxed it back. When collecting the car they didn't want to rely on the fax copy so they asked me to add my details to their printout of the form and sign it. I was fine with that and both dealer and I were happy to take photocopies of the completed form for our records. If I remember correctly only three copies were required - one for my records, one for the dealer's and one to go to HMC&E.

I priced a new audi in northern ireland and told dealer that this would be the way I was hoping to buy it (411). Dealer wanted me to pay the vat in the uk. then take it down here, pay vrt & vat then claim uk vat back. No way I was doing that
