Best Time to hit the gym

    Hey,
I am getting back into the gym after to long of a break. As i am not working at the moment I thought I have no excuse not to spend a couple of hours a week getting back to some level of fitness.

As i have all day I was wondering does it matter what time I go for a work out, first thing in the morning or in the afternoon.

So far i have been going in the afternoon as I find it's quieter then but if I would benifit more from going first thing in he morning I would prefer to do that.

    Any thoughts?
    Cheers.

I dont think teh time of day matters for a casual gym goer.Your hardly going to be reaching for optimum performance i assume!!
Just go whenever it suits,im a bad morning person so if i went in the AM id get little done,im much more energetic in the evening and thats when i can train better.Just go when its not as busy and you feel up to it

It doesn't matter that much. If you go in the morning, you'll find you feel really good for the rest of the day. If you go in the evening, you find that you are tired (in a good way) and sleep very well that night!

As far as I know, one time does not have any significant advantages over another, but I often notice that I am not near as flexible in the morning. If you don't believe me, try touching your toes (hamstring stretch) as soon as you get out of bed in the morning.
I may be (and probably am) wrong on this, but it's possible that a less flexible body would be more prone to injury. I'm open to correction on this.

Overall I don't think it's that important what time you go. I like it better when it's quieter as more weights are free etc. The busiest time, by far, is Monday evening. There can be up to 100 people there (although there is plenty of equipment to go around). On Sunday morning at about 9am you could count how many people are there on your fingers!

    Thanks guys,
I thought there was something that if you went to the gym first thing you got the metabolism up and running thus better using foods ate during the day, now as I type that it doesnt make much sense.
Went to the gym at 2pm today and found it nice and quiet so was able to do a decentish work out plus when I was leaving it was a perfect time to spot some talent - always a bonus :-)
    Thanks again.
