I AM NOT LOOKING FOR LEGAL ADVICE HERE SO PLEASE DON'T OFFER THANKS.
I simply need a source of information. The situation described below is just to give an idea of what I need to research.

I hope this isn't against the charter here, here goes.

I have a friend going through a divorce at the moment. The judge made a ruling which seems unworkable. I'm told it's not an unusual ruling though. Basically the judge refuses to award the property to either partner instead suggesting that another smaller property be rented and the couple would spend alternate weeks in the home/other property. His reason was that in the current market it would be unwise for him to order the sale of the property. He made no reference to where the children would live nor were provisions made for them.

Does anyone know of a resource on the net where one can look through rulings for the purpose of research. In particular I'd like case histories where ruling were made and subsequently changed due to them being un-workable. The situation above will give some idea of what I'm interested in.

Thanks to all and my apologies if it's against the charter.

    Ken

Check courts.ie for Carol Coulter's (Irish Times law reporter) quarterly publications on family law matters, the difficulty you have researching this area is that cases are conducted in private to protect the parties identity so published research is very hard to come by.

Coulters is good and also any experienced family law practitioner will advise based on experience.
