Going to canaries with Iberia later this year...had booked flight to Gran Canaria that goes through Madrid and return the same way....was due to return on a Saturday. Got a mail over weekend from Iberia saying there has been a change to my flight and I need to contact them asap.
So went on their website and it seems they are no longer flying Madrid to Dublin on the Saturday...next flight would be the Sunday. Should they pay for accommodation for us in Madrid for the Saturday night and put us onto the Sunday flight or what would our options be?! Hope all this makes sense! Thanks!

Have you actually contacted them or have you just looked at their website?

I have just looked at the site....phoning them later on today so just wanted to check what my rights might be before I speak with them. From looking at website, the flight from GC to Madrid is still operating on that day, it's just the flight Madrid to Dublin that has been cancelled.

Always remember that you are not entitled to compensation if you are:
    • Given at least two weeks' notice of a cancellation or
    • Provided with another flight at the time of the original one or
    • Simply delayed or
    • Late at check-in and miss your flight

Indeed, at this stage they can just offer you your money back or a re-route.

It appears that all the airlines are making big cut backs and changes to their schedules.

i think there will be a lot more of this over the coming months.
