If I set up a simple share folder & use the $ sign string at the end of the share name, it will hide it from other users while still leaving it possible to navigate to. If I then map that shared folder to a network drive, is there any way to stop a user disconnecting that network drive? (OS is XP Pro)

In regedit go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\] and create a DWORD value 'NoNetConnectDisconnect'.

Right click on the DWORD value 'NoNetConnectDisconnect' and select 'Modify', set the value to 1.

    That should do it :D
Obviously you can do this via group policy too.
