I finished shooting some sets for my sister of her young son Nathan. This is the resulting slideshow. A combination of off camera flash, on camera flash and natural light to make up the full repartoir of images.

The slideshow was made by Animoto. I highly recommend them. I came across the site by chance the other night after following a link form the FM forum. I know Keith has shown one made by them here before but I had completely forgotten.

It is also available in HQ. Toughts, comments and criticism welcome.

    Hi dave,
Lovely slideshow, with nice background piano concerto. You have quite a number of wonderful shots of Nathan, which on their own stand out both for clarity and composition. You also have quite a number of oof shots which, and I've only played the player here, take away from the overall quality of the finished piece.

OK I've just taken a look at the first 43seconds in HQ and either its the compression or something but quite a lot of those first shots seem way out of focus and I doubt that they are. You have but up some nice work and like most of us oof is a no no especially on portraiture. Keith got away with it on his blog because his shots are not portraits or his compression is not as great.

Take a second look and resample. This could be much better and I doubt very much that its your photographic skills that are at fault. Well done and good effort. I look forward to part 2.

    Thanks for the comment Philip.

I can see the ones you are talking about. I guess it must be the compression. I have a high def version on my computer and although it's better, it could be sharper. I wonder if I uploaded the small sized images from my comp by mistake. Those first few are the from a selection that i've printed up to A3 size and they are indeed sharp.

I have already paid the small sum for the high def vid. I'll try again with higher definition images to see if it makes a difference.

    Cheers

Edit: Just did and seems the compression is the culprit. I had a look at the DVD version on my TV and it looks fine. :)
