i stayed in the generator hostel when i was over there in Jan. Massive place, right on a train line, it was cheap, clean and good craic. Definitely one to check out.

Is there an area you need to be near? Can you give people an idea of your budget?

It's a bit unfair to expect people to pull answers from their neither regions when you haven't been a bit more specific :)

    Around Kurfürstendamm will do.

    I have a budget c. 80/night.

Pretty central (and therefore quite pricy) location. Ramada Plaza City Centre Hotel and Suites is not far and is not too bad - may be over budget though.

Not exactly close to Kurfürstendamm, But its just off Friderichstrase. They have nice private rooms. Would be hotel standard.

Funky Cheap Hotel in Kreutzberg, good atmosphere, near transport, nice cafes and bars on the street. I like the place so I'm putting it in, worth a look.

We used some agency (I can't remember webaddress), just google for "Accommodation Berlin". It was cheap and close to the centre. We've got an appartment, but the problem was that after booking we had to call landlord to manage meeting (keys/payment etc.), and he didn't speak any language except German (nor English/Russian/French/Polish/Spanish).
