I was going to head out tomorrow sometime between 9:30 and 10 a.m. and go up to the Sally Gap and back, possibly taking in Kippure.

I'm not going to be able to make the TT if its still on, I have a lab and the final 2 episodes of Battlestar Galactica are on that night, so need to get home and make my Cylon outfit!

If anyone else feels like a casual go up Kippure to get a rough idea of their time, or even just wants to head out for a spin, let me know!

I can meet you at 9:30 in Dundrum if you're still interested.

    But of course.

9:30 a.m. it is so, see you then!

Yes, sure we'll see what it's like when we're up there. Don't have to climb Kippure you know.

You're keen. I suppose I should give my new 27 cog a bit of a go.

Thanks for coming out El Tonto, toughest spin I have had in a while and only 63km!

A few worrysome moments going up to the crossroads, plus the cold on the way down caused my back to sieze up a bit and made it tough heading out of Enniskerry.

Can't fault the company though, shame about the weather.

Oh, I found out what my front derailleur problem was, the fixing bolt had come loose (another win for torque wrenches, time to get one) and it was sliding around in the clamp.

Say it was windy as fcuk up there alright - did around 90k myself down the n11 to brittas bay and back up through wicklow.

I take it you didn't head up to the mast??

Ha, no it was quickly agreed that would have been a bad idea. I think heading up to the mast could have ended in a spill.

Possibly the windiest I have seen it up there, turning around and trying to get started again was a chore in itself.

We were being carried along by the wind at one point, Tonto reported 60 km/hr+ and this was without effort and I had my hands hard on the brakes for parts of it. It was like being strapped to a rocket, no control over your acceleration.

I tore out to Enniskerry on the fixie, was doing over 50km/h on some of the flat bits without much effort other than the crazy cadence required... Turned around and realised why :)

IIRC Joe Bastardi was predicting 35kph from the NW this morning. Maybe the rule of thumb is "double it for the hills".

I almost died (yes, you read correct) on the sutton track this morning trying to push my ridiculous gear into the wind.

It was very, very windy up there today. Possibly the windiest I've seen it yet. Myself and DV were struggling to keep the bikes on the road at times. Still, it was a great workout.
