drop netting/ crabs/ shrimp/ prawns

so i was strolling around the beach today lookign for likely places to catch little soft peeler crabs etc for bait for fishing later in the season... when do the crabs start wandering into the rock pools?? does anyone on here use a drop net off little piers for catching a few shrimp/prawns for either eating or for bait??…

do you get a load of crabs aswell??
is it a good way of catching peelers??
