Re: Automatic Gearbox in a 1997 Transit 2.5, lost all power in gearbox... the engine just revved away with no forward movement. After few minutes power back again, that was yesterday... have driven it around last night and all was fine. The only sign of anything being wrong was an oil leak, which came in to the cabin just below the windscreen on the drivers side. It dripped on to the steering column...ran down the column and formed a small puddle of oil just outside the peddles. In my opinion it was automatic gearbox fluid, also the level in the gearbox was down below minimum. stj

Don't drive it, repair the leak, refill the transmission, cross your fingers.:)
