Not too shabby though the ending dragged out. Jimi hendrix saved the day though. Anyone know who they meant by the 'god' who doesssnt likje that name?

I'm confused as hell!!!!....what happened to Starbbuck?, was she even ever alive?, is SHE God?
First hour was amazing, they saved the budget for this ep.!....tons of CGI, it was always very obvious that Kara and the song were jump cordinates.....but, wasn't she supposed to be the unding and end to the human race?....she would lead them to thier doom?

I thought Gaius meant himself?, and 150,000,000 years later...were they on our Earth or the one Adama named, the one they landed on?....or is there just one Earth?

I've now watched it twice. :)

The Hebrew word Yaweh means something like God's Holy Name.

"lead them all to their end" was the quote. Kara Thrace was an instrument of divinity.

It's our Earth (the one Adama named) - Hera is Eve of Tasmania. We are the decendants of Hera. :)

    Totally blown away by it.

Really pleased with how it ended, answered almost everything, which is exactly what you need a good finale to do.

Still do know whether or not balthar and caprica at the end were alive or just the two 'angels' that we kept seeing in the episode. Loved it

Well all know it would be a tricky undertaking to wrap this up into 2 hours and 11 minutes to satisfy the majority of fans.

And I personaly think that it was just about done but nothing that is en paar with some of the episodes previously shown.

Sure the first 90 minutes or so were great acting and really made it about the characters of the show but the final minutes are just well how do I say it not very great.

Overall the episode leaves me dissapointed and the 1:02 minute caprica trailer afterwards does not really help either.

Or maybe it's just that the wrong characters dominated the last 7 minutes.

Maybe if I watch it again later this evening I pick up some more "hidden" meanings that make sense.

But again great acting and I'm so going to miss Friday nights epic drama (yes I don't call it Sci-Fi, I call it drama).

I'd say I was totally blown away. The end was all I wanted it to be and more. Very, very happy, if totally surprised. Can see how a lot of people won't be fulfilled by this but me, I loved it.

    Round 2 coming up!

I have to watch it again.
As previously mentioned the first half was very epic. The second half was good, for long term committed fans...
I will definitely be re-watching it tomorrow.

On the points people brought up:

    - Kara was an angel / ghost since she died, definitely a divine intervention
    - The 6/Balthar we saw at the end were the 'head 6' and 'head balthar', i.e. the Angels
    - They ended up on our Earth, and named it Earth as a sort of replacement for the actual 'Earth' which turned out to be a nuked cylon planet.

This was a awful ot better then I thouht it would be. It answered almost everything.

But Im still pissed off about the whole Starbuck thing. Initally after Head 6 and Head Balthars line at the end. I thought Starbuck might be God.

Why did Cavill commit suicide ????

Eh, so that no one else would get the benefit of shooting him? Because they were utterly fu(ked?

Step.hen just mentioned there, wtf happened to all the other base stars in Cavil's control? Were they only full of centurions? If so, wtf are they gonna do? I reckon they could meet the freed ones and start a happy centurion family. Or, just keep repeating ad finitum

i have to say i loved the episode, wrapped things up nicely

alot of people complaining about too much "God Did It" answers, but as an atheist i found them funny but yet interesting in the context of the show

theres a underlying message of "live life and be happy no matter whats thrown at you" and about dozen other "morals of the story", great job great job

so yah im very happy with the episode, quite alot of "fracking hell" moments sitting on edge of couch :p and some great quotes that the show will be remembered by and the acting was top notch, well done

yah that was quite interesting alright

i think they were referring to "his" (male?) disapproval of organized religions

Is this the official episode thread or have the usual poll posters been slacking off today? Since the title does not include a spoiler warning I'll spoiler this just in case.
Anyway great ending with the one major controversy bound to be Starbuck. The "Harbinger of Doom" she was not. Did the Cylons know she would be their salvation and thus lie about her? For a second I thought we were going to get a 6th Sense montage once she vanished. No matter what it seems there is to be no explanation for her return all in white which is a little disappointing but it is in keeping with a lot of the mystical aspects of the show. We surely have to conclude she was a spectre of some sort along with a ghost viper??

Great nod to the old series when Anders led the ships to the sun and the original music was played. Not to mention the old style Cylons in the colony. Very nice.

Ron Moore cameo at the end was nice despite the almost but not quite preachy "don't end up like they did" bit from the two Angels but it ended excellently with Hendrix and toy robots.

So one of my all time favorite shows comes to an end. Sad really but I enjoyed the ride. Heres hoping Caprica and The Plan are just as good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,055 ✭✭✭OmegaRed

    I cried, a lot.

So sad to see this show come to and end but it was such a great ride and ended in such a great way.

I guess a lot of the ending can be explained through the spiritual/mystical aspects of life. Kind of controversal but I though it fitted well with the over all theame of the show.

I've just been rewatching peices over and over again. One part that I can't make out is what Sam says when Kara says goodbye. Is it 'see you on the otherside'?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 721 ✭✭✭stakey

    Very DS9 like ending... :)

I feel the third party was some higher evolved being something similar to the wormhole entities in DS9 that liked to take an active part in humanity.

Of course, the only way for humanity to understand this higher power is to see it as a God hence why it represents itself through angels in the series and why it doesn't like the name to be used amongst its own 'angels'.

A great ending, a great send off for the Galactica and lots of splosions!

I think it is. And she wasnt far behind him, if she was an angel and he died in the sun... mmm.

Are you guys all in the US or did your cousins send this via express usenet or rapidshare courier? My cousins posted it to me a bitat a time last night starting about 4.30am and I am still only halfway there 12 hours later. I'll get to watch it first on Sky 1 at this rate!!

I've read some spoilers already as I couldn't resist.
So it looks like RDM Deux Ex Machina's it. How ironic that this ending is even closer to Mormonism Mythology than even original creator Mormom Glen A Larsen.

Life Here began out there

So who's the Dying leader? Roslin made it to earth and even got to enjoy the place for a while before she popped her clogs. No one else that could be considered a leader died.

I have to believe there were a few diabetics on the fleet who had a few negative words to say about the abandonment of all technology, but other than that fantastic stuff. Now it's time to watch it all again

Very good ending. I thought I was going to be disappointed but they really answered most of the questions and the attack on the cylon colony was brilliant. The whole first hour was so tense and action packed and the last half an hour tied up each character's story, which felt a bit dragged out but it still worked.

-So it was really all God,or some kind of higher power.
-Hera was so important because 150,000 years later her bones are found to be the earliest human remains, basically we all decended from her.
-I presume Starbuck was an angel, divine intervention to bring them to the new earth, through the song she got them there. For some reason I felt she deserved a btter send off than that,I wanted to know more.

I'm glad they didn't end up giving the Cylons resurrection again because that would have been the whole cycle done over again, great to see the chief kill Tori,Cavill kill himself and several other things I can't really remember now because I'll probably have to watch it again to get everything.

    Overall,very happy with the ending.

And could someone put a poll on this thread? I'd like to how people rate this finale.

Frankly its better if those muppets were bred out of the gene pool. The same way Tyrol chose to be

    Absoluty delighted with the episode.

Was on the edge of my seat for the whole thing. I thought everything wrapped up nice with the exception of Starbucks ending being horribly anti-climatic.
I completly forgot Tori killed Cally, that scene was fantastic. The battle royale between the colony and Galactica cylons was great.

Extremly sad the show is finished.

I'm a 26 year old bloke and I cried like a baby. When we last see Galactica..... I cried. When Adama parts company with Lee and Kara..... I cried. When Adama and Roslin are in the Raptor..... I cried. When we see Helo, Hera and Athena together I smiled happily.

I feel tired after watching that. That was intense. I'm gonna miss this show. I'm so happy and so sad at the same time. And a fantastic ending to the show. Really really really love BSG.

...... Oddly, they found the bones of a young girl and her parents? Does that mean Hera died young? Thats horrible. And her parents died aswell?

my memory serves me right there was a national geographic article about "eve" not too long ago

i think this is the one (free read online!)

    http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2006/03/human-journey/shreeve-text

Hara couldn't have died that young, since she had to procreate and had children to pass on the genes...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,083 ✭✭✭✭Stark

Well, what to say. If someone had told me 3 years ago that the show would end with Jimmy Hendrix giving Starbuck the code to the 4th wall :) Oh and Hera grows up to get laid. A lot.

I didn't like the whole preachy religion aspect but I've been annoyed with that all the way through.
(Would have been great if it ended with the Rolling Stones, "Sympathy for The Devil" instead, :))

All in all I quite enjoyed it. The Starbuck ending fell flat for me tho. Oddly I was thinking they'd drop Lee off in Greece and try to tie in some of the mythological cross overs.

Lots of splosions, great effects and cinematography. They really ploughed the CGI budget into that episode!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 605 ✭✭✭ghouldaddy07

Very Suprised Helo and Athena made it all the way to the end. I would of bet everything I own that one or both would of died before the show ended.

Very good indeed - we got our massive space battle and a nice wrap up of most of the questions. I laughed at the Ron Moore cameo at the end too... he just had to get a scene in :). Loved the old theme song being used and the old school cylons all over the place too...

This had to be one of the best endings of a show I've seen though - I'll miss it so much :(.

In relation to the statement that Kara wasn't "the harbringer of their doom" Remember than "their doom" could be interpreted as their fate/destiny.

So she did lead them to their Doom.....not their deaths as some interpreted it as.................myself when I first heard the prophecy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,083 ✭✭✭✭Stark

It said she was the harbinger of death and she would lead the human race to its end. The harbinger of death bit could be interpreted as a harbinger that came from death rather than a harbinger forecasting death.

Well thank fcuk Tori got what was coming to her. The rest of the finale could have been crap and that would have made up for it..............ok, perhaps not but it would've helped :D.

Maybe I need to re-watch but I'm still puzzled by the flashbacks. What was the point? And we didn't find out what job Adama had been offered either although they sneaked in a hint that maybe, possibly, he could have been a clyon.

Overall it was enjoyable and not a bad finale and helped make a few of the last few episodes seem a little better in retrospect.

As someone who had a hypo during the middle of the episode I find that nugget of insight very pertinent.
The ending with head caprica and bathar talking was pure cheese. The rammin was concentrated cliche. And yet I think that is the best ending to a tv series I have ever seen.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 46 declanx

Firstly it was a class episode. Loved all the ref's to BSG 1978. I seen the DS9 comments, but I taught the "angles" were like the monoliths in 2001: A Space Odyssey and God was the maker of the monoliths.

Random thinking: Starbucks father teaching her piano was God (yeah big jump). Still I would have liked to seen an update on the robot cylons.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,761 ✭✭✭✭degrassinoel

loved the opera house thing, gave me shivers that did,
Cavil's "frak" and eating a bullet seemed a bit ott.
the whole starbuck thing, was great with the jump coordinates, but just disappearing...c'mon, wtf?
also, who was her dad? was that daniel? was it god? was it just pure luck?
the chief's vengeance was well overdue, saul tigh was epic, as were both the adama's, Doc Cottle was frakkin awesome!
baltar and six were the usual self indulgent bollocks, the head ones were even worse

am slightly disappointed, but maybe because i wont be seeing BSG anymore except for reruns, i have to watch the finale again to figure out what i've missed.

i dont think they answered everything :( am still in shock by the whole thing lol

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 325 ✭✭Derek Coleman

I dont really need to know who Kara's father is. It may be any of the above. I like answers as much as everyone but the curiosity of who he was is a nice way to leave it.

He may well have been no one, just Dreilide Thrace. He may have known the song just like Hera knew the song. Which can all be explained by "God told them".

Wonder how much the whole lot will cost on DVD, would like to get all the series, Razor, and the Plan (if it's good) in one box. None of this crap about which version is best.
