    Have to unreg for this

One of the girls in work today admitted to me that she has been taking clothes home, stealing them.
She says she doesn't know why she does it, mainly because she wants the top, shirt, jeans so bad and can't afford them.
She thinks that maybe they are on to her but insists that she won't do it anymore, the fear of getting caught has gotten to her. Scares her too much.

I don't know what to say to her, she hopes I won't go to management, I don't think I can but should I?
If they are on to her, do they have to catch her in the act or can they bring up someday during work?

    Any help would be great.

If you are aware of someone doing something illegal and do not report it, you are complicit in their actions.

My advice would be, do not get involved with her any further.
She did this to herself, she will now have to face the consequences of her actions.
If you wish to keep your job, report her as she has involved you.

thats tough . But if your boss finds out that knew and said nothing them you gould get in the dog house . . What i'd do is tell her to stop and if she doesn't then tell management .

"I don't wanna know" - repeat this phrase 100 times in front of the mirror, then next time she even hints at her actions - hit her with it!!

If management ever do say anything then you can say she only told you once & you thought she was joking.

Shoplifters generally wouldn't tell someone, they couldn't do anything to you unless they had evidence that you actively assisted her.

Tell her you think she should never do it again and that if she does you don't want to know about it.

Having worked in retail for years she is not the first and wont be the last. 27%- 29% of reatil theft is internal. She shouldnt have involved you and agree with previous poster - would say you thought she was joking.

Often jokes are made of such. Could always tell her she needs to leave or you will tel. TBH whilst I would be grateful for recieving the information- IMO there is something amiss about someone who tell tales on others wrong doing.

Anyway hope you sort it - not a nice situation to be in.

tell her that you're not comfortable to know this info. any similar situation in future should not include you
