Alright guys, just a bit of a problem with my floating trem. I dont know why but the fine tuner of my low E string keeps on coming up as you can see from the picture. This only happens over a length of time where i leave the guitar for a while.

This started happening after that string broke and I changed it. Can't think of why its doing it. The thread doesnt seem to be worn down, I can't pull the tunning peg out so i dont know what's goin on tbh.

Also the fact that the trem is kinda high isn't to do with it it's always been like that and I'm too shíte to fix it. :)

What make is the trem? What guitar?

If it's a case of the fine tuner loosening itself by way of your hand brushing against it? I'd suggest buying some PTFE tape from a hardware store, remove the fine tuner, put tape on the threads of it, and screw it back in. It won't look the prettiest, PTFE tape is normally white.

Give your guitar to a guitar tech to get set up, new strings, intonated, action set etc. If you are not that familiar with doing that to a trem it'll drive you crazy!!

Tis an Ibanez RG 320 fm and its an edge pro III.

Nope like I said it happens by itself and its most noticable after the guitar hasn't been played for a while, 3 days nearly, and you come back to find it like that.

I know a good bit about floating trems just don't have enough time to give it the full attention it needs so don't want to do it really quick cause im not that good.

There's no real way its going to unscrew itself in the case, so the threads in the threads in the tail of the trem itself are probably gone. Or the threads in the fine-tuning screw. One or the other. I can't think what else it would be.

Take the fine-screw out and look at it, you'll see easily enough if the threads are stripped. And you should be able to peep into the hole on the back of the baseplate and see if those threads are stripped.

Ok I took it out and the thread is fine apart from the very tip of it, where I can see two copper colour marks on both sides directly across from each other. its right where the thread starts though and it looks pretty new and there was a bit of resistance with getting th screw out so I wonder if i just did it there like?
