    Hi folks,
I damaged a honda civic SE+ wing mirror a few weeks back in a minor accident. To cut a long story short, the result was a small clipping of the black lining that meets the blue cover for the wing mirror. The owner wasn't pushed and understood how it happened etc. but called today saying that she was told that it will cost €300 to repair and if its not repaired she risks failing the NCT test.

She doesn't want either of us to pay this and was hoping I would be able to try find the part for her - but any scrap yard I asked didn't have one. One suggested I fill the hole with black silicone. At present. she just wrapped it around with black tape to cover the small hole.

The mirror works perfectly and the damage is only noticeable from the front.

    Any suggestions?

Did you try eBay? You could save a lot of money.

Here's a quick search for honda civic wing mirrors - I don't know if any of these match the model in question - but you could do a more thorough search, and it's always worth asking sellers if they have or can get you a part that isn't listed.

Is that the latest model Civic?

If it is that models mirror comes in 3 bits.

The mirror cover (painted part) is only 24.42 + vat from a Honda Dealer.Main part of the mirror is €120.59+ vat.And the glass is around 30-40 incl vat.

Might be slightly more or less depending on the VIN.
It sounds like all you need is the main part of the mirror ie. 120.59 + vat. Most dealers would give you a bit of discount off that aswell.

The glass is fine, the cover (painted bit) is fine. Its what is behind the painted bit,the black unitd, there is a small chip of part of it. It just looks a little weird but everything fits and works perfectly.

Would they fail the NCT over that?

Ill upload a pic later, I took it just in case

Of course, if it's colour coded, then it will probably cost a fortune to get it painted. I've had an ugly grey unpainted wing mirror on my car for about a year now for this reason - I was quoted 100 euro to get it painted.

It's not necessary for the NCT however.

edit: sorry Sully just saw your response after i posted this

If the cover on the old mirror is undamaged, you could just put that on the new mirror. Be very careful of the clips when removing.
