    Hi,

I am look for holiday destination recommendations. We are hoping to travel abroad and for the first time with our one year old son. Here is what we would like
    • Flight no more then 4 hours (preferably closer to 2hrs)
    • Travel in September
    • Good weather but not too hot (less than 25 degree Celsius)
    • Not your typical package holiday
    • Willing to hire a car.
    • Happy with Apartment/holiday home style accommodation.
    • close to a beach would be nice but not a necessity
    • We like the outdoors (scenic) but also like cities.
    • Good food.

To give you some idea of our taste my Favorite holidays were
Thailand (koh samui, Chiang Mai, Bangkok), Italy (Florence, Amalfi coast, Rome, Sienna), West of Ireland (Dingle, Clare etc), Paris.

I was thinking of maybe north Spain, South of France, North Italy.

Cornwall in the UK.... the weather, food, people beaches and lots more. Family friendly. Not as cheap as you would imagine but lovely

this may sound daft to you but as i live near blackpool in the uk-you would find it great for the kid and lots to see-the other place you would like is gibraltar no funny food or bad water-and at the end of the day no problems with the language as all speak english who knows you may even find irish people, because most people from gib lived in ireland during the war i know my mother in law never stopped talking about it

San Sebastain in the north of Spain is a beautiful city with lovely beaches but I wouldn't think it's the most reliable for weather, especially in September.

Sardinia (Alghero with Ryanair) is another option.

Would you consider driving to France?

Or Fly to France and hire a car(cheaper than ferry) and hire a mobile home in two different parks in two different areas.

    Relaxing and hot.

Brought our 6 month old to Lagos in Portugal last Sept - could not recommend it highly enough. Superb beach 5 min walk away. Old town with lovely restaurants etc - all very child friendly. Lovely breeze in from the coast means it never gets too hot (25 sounds about right) Don't knock the package by the way - we priced it independently and worked out WAY more expensive. At the end of the day you can do what you want - take the package deal but do your own thing - thats what we did. We're going back again in May - literally counting the days... :D

Might stretch the budget a bit (and is 4 hours flying) but this hotel is lovely and very child friendly. Mainly Spanish visitors in hotel, but some Irish too. We had a great time there last year and would bring a sprog with us no problem :pac:

waynecarr if that was to me we stayed in the Marina Club - fantastic spot, a bit pricey if you try to book direct but we booked through Falcon and they were much cheaper. Hotel really is top notch we had a 1 bed apt - really modern finish and everything you needed... pm me if you need more details...
