Exercise Bike - how long and how often?

Hi guys, I have a (dusty) exercise bike which I want to start using again (was about 5 years ago last for about 2 weeks :o).

I am really keen to get going on it again properly, I need to burn a bit of fat around my hips and thighs and tone my legs up.

How often would I need to do it and how long for? Also, how long would it take to see results?

    Thanks. :)

Your best bet is to do intervals WITH RESISTANCE ON THE BIKE!!

maybe 1 or 2 minutes flat out as hard as you can followed by 30sec or so at a pace where you can catch your breath but still working at the same time.

Google HIIT. High intensity interval training for some ideas.

Change it up too. Dont just stick to the bike. Walk or maybe walk for a minute then slowly jog for a min gradually building up. Diversity is the key.

Last thing is DIET. Eat well. You will not get the results you want with out eating to fuel your body nutritionally. Stickies are great if you lack knowledge in the area.

I'd say weeks depending on your diet and activity levels. Don't let that discourage you though. The fat takes time going on and time to get off. :)
