Emergency Plan

I have an event in three and a half weeks where I will need to be in a bikini, I am not overweight, well could do with losing three or four pounds but the real problem is that I am out of shape (ie my body is a bit jelly like :().

If I start a diet and excercise plan is there any possible way I could make a difference in this short amount of time?

Has anyone any ideas? I know I'm not gonna radically change my body in this time but even a slight toning up would be great, just not sure what I need to do. Was thinking of doing twenty mins sit ups every morning, going for a run four times a week and maybe going for a walk on my lunch break. Can't really afford the gym at the moment, any help appreciated!!!

Would recommend low carbing it for the next three and a half weeks and hitting the weights and/or challenging bodyweight exercises. Cut out bread, pasta, rice, alcohol, fatty foods, all junk food, soft drinks. Replace with meat, fish, eggs, nuts, veg. You should lose fat and lose any bloatedness, leaning you out.

Thanks Celestial, but what kind of weights can I do if I can't go to the gym? Is there anything I can do myself at home??

Also, what would be a challenging bodyweight exercise?

Do you think it's possible to make a difference in three weeks??

Press-ups (against the stairs or the side of the bath if you are like me and can't manage full ones :o)

Lunges and squats - bodyweight or with 2 litre bottles of water in each hand or a backpack with books in it on you.

You could do a circuit alternating between exercise and repeating 3 or 4 times.

your diet will have the most effect. cut out carbs as much as possible, if youre going to have to eat them, make them low GI carbs : sweet potato, brown rice, undercooked pasta

doing sit ups for hours on end will make no difference at all. get your diet in check, do interval running and you will notice a huge difference in 3 weeks i gaurentee it

Sit-ups are useless for what you are looking for. Yep, for bodyweight exercises start doing push-ups (do them on your knees and inclined if you can't do regular ones), squats, lunges, chin-ups, pull-ups.

    Check out this site: http://www.simplefit.org/bodyweight-exercises.html

Also, as mentioned diet is what will get you visible results in such a short space of time, give it an honest effort to see the results you can make. A rough plan for you:

breakfast: eggs, small amount of porridge
    lunch: meat/fish/veg
    snack: unsalted, non-roasted nuts
    dinner: meat/fish/veg

Also, when you reduce carbs you will see less bloating and puffiness, so you will get a leaner 'look' in any case.
