    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on wedding entertainment that a little bit different, don't really want Irish dancers?

Something for after the meal but before the band.

I've seen these before and they are great just too expensive

    Anyone any ideas?

I would be interested too - In fact I am looking for a belly dancer (my Hubby is Turkish so just for a bit of craic and to get everyone up and enjoying themselves, nothing serious!) I found one lady bu TBH she was a total loolah and was SO pretentious about it, I got the impression she would be telling you off for having the craic! and she wanted €500 for an hour, has no car so I would have to provide transport for her there and back, and she would only actually dance for 45 mins of that hour! so I'm guessing you can figure what decision I made on her!

if anyone knows of VERY reasonable entertainment, it would be great. I'm just looking for something for an hour, and as I said if anyone knows a belly dancer even better!

There's a restaurant on Parliament St in Dublin called Sinners who have belly dancers nightly - they might be able to give you a contact.

I wanted something different also and tried for a comedian, unfortunately I couldnt find one for the week before christmas but would have loved it. There are also break dancers too which could be great fun, belly dancing and irish dancing is getting more and more commoon at weddings now so something different would be nice.

I have an uncle who does magic tricks and he went around different groups of people doing tricks, although it wasnt formal entertainment he mingled with the people and everyone came back to us with great reports of the tricks so something like that could be nice also.

Hi OP - I was at a wedding in the UK two years ago and they had a Salsa Session - it was brilliant. They had a Salsa Dancing Instructor and all the guests were given a salsa lesson and we danced away - it was hillarious, as we were all learning together, getting into knots - talk about a brilliant ice-breaker to really get guests in the mood.

The other thing they did at this wedding was a Chocolate Fountain at the side of the dance floor - so people were dipping fruit/cake/marsmallows into the choc - dancing - everyone was in a fantastic mood.

I would highly recommend something like this - from a guests point of view. J

    Hi all,

Myself and my dance partner have been bellydancing in Dublin for the last ten years. Over the last 4-5 years traditional bellydancing has become very very popular for weddings. We have danced at many many weddings throughout the country, so if you want more details on this drop us a line at wildblackorchid@gmail.com
Also if you're looking for something completely different in the bellydance/entertainment arena, we also do whats called tribal fusion bellydance, a little bit left of the middle, completely original and has the cliche wow factor, again we can provide more details on this with footage, pics etc - just drop us a line :)

I was thinking of having a few swing dancers and then get the dancers to show the guests a few steps to get everyone on the dancefloor!

I think something like this could work if you don't want to do a big formal first dance. Oh and you could have like a Ratpack band to push the boat out!
