    Hi All,

I have an interview in a while that I'm not a 100% fit, I've got probably 70% of the skills (Network admin). The other 30% I've very little exposure to (software database admin), and wouldnt be able to talk abou them and shouldnt, however I do have some knowledge of databases (from home study) but the spec says comprehensive understanding of etc. Would I get away with it, I wouldnt be confident if a mission critical database went down for eg.

Should I still go to the interview or am I wasting my time, I'm an IT contractor and it'll cost me a days pay to attend also. Contract is ending soon and nothing else on the horizon.

You answered it yourself ... go!

Be honest about what you do and don't know. If the interviewers are any good, they'll have worked out the weakness from your CV anyway.

I never apply for anything that I'm less than a 60% fit for, but over that, I figure it's the company's responsibility to work around what I do/don't have, it's very rare that they'll get an exact fit.
