    Hi there,
being the "Old fart" that I am, can anyone tell me how I can transfer old tapes to CD format ??
I have many many old tapes, mostly from the 1980's, and much contains Radio Nova recordings. there is a slight "Hiss" in the sound quality, but I would like to transfer all the same. Anyone ??
    Thanks:pac:

You need a cassette deck with RCA line out connections and a suitable lead to go between it and your soundcard.
You can use a wave edititing program like Adobe Audition or Audicity (which is free). Save it as Wav or Pcm or the highest mp3 format.
Use Nero or another CD burning program to make your CDs.
There is a bit more to it but thats it in a nutshell.

Sony do a CD recorder (Hard to find but Richer sounds or the Sony centre usually have them) it retails (in NI) for about £200 (sounds a bit steep in this day and age but it is pretty good quality piece of kit)

Has the advantage of not tying up your computer but on the other hand can only be used with "Music" CD-R's/CD-RW's
