MS Word crash issue

    hi,

    I was looking at a lady's pc for her and her word is crashing, ie was crashing also, but i ran a malware removal tool and that fixed that. She basically hadn't installed any updates in years, she had xp sp1. I installed all the latest windows updatesm but it wouldn't let me install the office updates. The crash occured just after word opened and it is the usual ms crash message, encountered a problem etc... when I clicked on the details it said it was the latest version of work, consider upgrading, which I tried to do online, but it kept asking for the original install cd, which of course I don't have.

    Anyone know any way around this, she just has MS word 2000 installed, no other office features and this was on PC when she got it, is there where I can point to when it looks to for install cd.

    er... eh .....point it to the installer?

    Repair install I would say ;)

    Run CCleaner and clean the registry too... :)

    repair the install...? ah excuse my ignorance, but how do i do this without the orginal cd...

    i have cleaned registry, not CCleaner, whatever that is, will check it out
