4 calls made earlier. None about in Limerick apparently.

    Anyone having similar supply issues?

Duckham's Q, Castrol GTX or similar, or Millers Classic.

Update: Halfords have an own brand version available. A bit saucy at €27 a gallon.

Have it in mine - they were out of the Castrol stuff the last time!

It's STG£16.99 a gallon on their website but €26.99 here. Rip off?

Could be the stock they hold here was bought in through distibution when the exchange wasn't so favourable.....

Then again, it's likely just a rip off.

No option but to buy some eventually.

    This galls however:-

    Uk price vs Irish.

I couldn't resist emailing halfords customer services.....

    "Hi.

I bought some clasic 20w-50 mineral oil today at your Limerick Branch today, receipt attched.
I noticed that the same product is available on your website (and presumably your UK branches) for STG£16.99
Allowing for exchange rate differences, this should mean a Euro price of €18.74 (calculation from xe.com).
Could you please give me an idea of how the Irish price, equivalent to an additional 38.69% of the currency adjusted one, is justified.
I realise Ireland is a different market and transport costs are perhaps higher, but how is it any different to N.I. in logistical terms?
I've to make a trip to the UK shortly and would much prefer to support local businesses and jobs, but I have it in mind to buy a stock of this oil for future years.

Regards, and looking forward to hearing from you." :D

There was an investigation done by (i think) the consumer association here and the found that taking into account higher taxes/wages the mark up should be 6% here.

So if they come back with "blah blah operating costs" see if you can dig up that report.

If your classic insurance is with Axa you can get a 20% (or is it 10% ??) discount - evens the score a small bit

Tipperary auto care in tipp town have a cheap 20w/50 for less than a tenner a gallon.

You'd probably want to shorten your oil change interval a bit admittedly, but it is cheap as hell.
