2009 Championship Predictions Comp?

    Evening everyone,

With the 2009 Championship less than 6 weeks away, I'm thinking about creating a competition for the summer where posters predict who will be the winners and losers of the coming season. While we have the pools, this one will be a general overview on how you feel the hurling and football Championships will pan out. Once we've all agreed how to implement it, I'll post the finalised list where you simply fill out who will achieve what in the summer.

One of the reasons I think this is a good idea is while the pools are good fun, you can't guarantee you'll be available every week to fill out predictions. With this, all you need is one post at the start of the summer.

The reason I'm starting this topic in March is to get feedback on how it should run.

    Definites:
    Hurling
    All-Ireland winners:
    Munster winners:
    Leinster winners:

    Football
    All-Ireland winners:
    Munster winners:
    Leinster winners:
    Connaught winners:
    Ulster winners:

    Possibilities:
    AI Finalists:
    Provincial finalists:
    AI SF/QF participants:

The reason I say the above are possibilites because there is a certain amount of luck involved in predicting those, what with open draws in the qualifiers etc, so I'll leave that up to you guys whether to include them or not...

Another possibility, while completely different, is to simply post a list of all 32 counties, and you fill out how they'll do in hurling/football beside their name. Eg...

Cork: Football Munster SF, All-Ireland QF - Hurling Munster winners, All-Ireland SF

Also, I'd like to know what would be fairest way of distributing points for each correct entry. Should it be 1 point across the board, regardless of the tournament, or should correctly guessing the AI finalists be worth more than guessing an AI quarter finalist?

Like the guys on the pools I'll be keeping the league ticking as the results come in. Also, I'll need to post a full list of the draws for each competition, just so people know what kind of provincial finals can/can't happen.

So any thoughts or comments about how it should be run, let me know here :)
