Simple as that really. No luck getting a job in engineering at the moment. Anyone have any ideas of what sector to go about looking for employment elsewhere, preferably somewhere that i can put what i learned in college to use?

There's not much out there, as I'm sure you know. I've known some engineers to go away working with GOAL or Concern for a year or so. If you don't have big committments here you could ride out the recession in some other country.

    Maybe IT ?
I think a lot of electronic engs skills are quite transferrable to programming etc.
Not sure if i've heard of civil engs doing that though

Gonna give this a bump, just in case anyone has any ideas of what other sectors might be on the lookout for a civil engineer.

Its very difficult to get a job with them. I think the numbers they have taken on this year are greatly reduced. I was gona apply this year but it never came up and things changed as well
