This is an interesting new show its "based on the Biblical story of King David but set in a mythical country not unlike the present-day United States".The first two episodes have aired and so far its been keeping me interested, well worth checking out

Watched this last night and really enjoyed it. Shows a ton of potential. McShane is brilliant as always. Will be keeping an eye on it.

Yeah. Was bugging me for ages who he was but he played Nick in Home and Away. He is good in the part. Reminds me of Heath Ledger.

Yeah, one minute he looks the head of Ledger and the next he's like a young Matt Damon. Could be good alright. First couple weren't bad. a bit too much of the auld eyes-darting-twirling-mustache soap machinations but Ian McShane's ALWAYS worth a watch (Well, post Lovejoy anyway). Plus it's good to see Magwa getting a part. Always likes Wes Studi. For spoilers read the bible :)

It's a decent show.. it's definitely more innovative than most of the trash currently airing.

But it's not essential viewing either!

I can't quite decide if I like it or not, I think I do. I suspect that knowing it is unlikely to be renewed is putting a dampner on it. If it was renewed there is a wealth of material as David (bible spoiler-is it a spoiler if it is from 3000 years ago?)
becomes more and more corrupt and his relationship with his 8(?) wives, 10+ concubines and his possibly homosexual relationship with Jonathon (Jack's character).

Tbh, I think that in the 4 episodes I've seen, I'm waiting for my husband to catch up before I watch the 5th, it's moving a little bit too slow. David is still too perfect, too innocent, not even slightly tempted by the wealth and power around him. And all the Benjamin's, apart from Michelle, are too suspicious of him. There is no way he'd survive long enough to gain power.

Shame its certain to be canned, has a lot of potential, although you can really tell the premise would work a lot better on a cable network. Can't see why it wasn't picked up by HBO, Showtime or one of those.

I'm not sure if this show got axed or not in the US but it starts on RTE 2 tomorrow night at 12.30

Was canned... well, got no second season anyways!

I gave up after 5 episodes as it was inevitable... shame as it was an enjoyable enough little series (from what I saw of it).

I never got past episode 4, I did enjoy what I saw, but knowing it would get canceled made it fairly redundant. A pity really as it was innovative and could have become fantastic given enough time.

You're asking why RTE scheduled some quality programming at 12.30am instead of a prime time slot reserved for endless repeats of Friends, Hands and The Simpsons? You're clearly new here! ;)
    its startd again in june
its up to ep 9 now
It'll finish on July 18th in the States with a double-episode finale.

Great. I'll definitely be having a look. Came across this show on the web the last day by chance and saw that Ian McShane was a lead character. If he's even half as good in this as he was in Deadwood, it's certainly worth an hour of my time.

Watch the last episode and enjoyed the series as a whole. It was a bit like a soap at times but the last few episodes picked up and it was starting to become a great show. Shame it got cancelled as it was an original idea for the show

it was different from all this procedural stuff

i thought it was heading for a conclusin and then just went mad at the end again, just ot give lovejoy a chance to do al pacino type overacting i thought the period when david is king was the whole point of the story and they'd be happy to get into it in the second seasons (had there been one)

apparently its has grown enough of a following despite its treatement enough for nbc to reconsider renewing it but i think thats just wishful thinking.
