    Sweet

Can you let me know where you got it from? I would love a DIY amp for my studio and you cannot argue with that price.

DSCN0292.jpghere is an other photo.from left to right volume,smooth/fat switch and then tone(this is a funny tone arrangment, its more like a master.when you lower this all the way down and raise the volume you get no sound, and then when you raise the tone with the volume on full you get a wonderfull crunch)the tubes are russian 6n1p and a 6n2p.

Are you sure it's a tone and not a master volume? :).

Looks nice though man, and cant say i've ever heard of those tubes before. Congrats on the score :).

Im sure Leo Fender met with the same 'encouragement' when he started out.

Great stuff johnboy8. Gotta admire the DIY attitude.
How does it sound vs. the Blackstar?

the blackstar has its good points, but this is just amazing,as i said the different tones you can get from this thing are just amazing.i am playing it with my deluxe strat into a 1x12 cabinet with the alnico blue speaker and the bell like tones are still ringing in my ears, i brought it to a friends house last night and played it through his 4x12 cab and it was even better.every one needs one of these in their house.

its a tone control alright, every thing in the manual relates it to a tone control,it just acts that way.never heard of those valves before either(even googled them and could not find info on them)i have sent a email to madamp asking where i could get replacements.

Is there a PCB in that chassis or is point to point?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 271 ✭✭johnboy8

its all point to point.i was very tidy at the start with all the hard wires, but when it came to wiring the valve sockets it started to get a little messy with all the resistors and capacitors(i did push insulation over all the legs of the resistors and caps )there is a great wiring diagram with it to fault find after if you get stuck or something goes on it.
