I have been out of work now since end August '08. At first, I was looking everywhere for jobs, all recruitment websites, newspapers etc....now after 6 months, I have learnt the only 2 places to really look for a job is on jobs.ie or FAS website as all recruitment sites seem to have fake or repeat jobs.....Where do other people look for jobs posted? Decent and real jobs posted mind you!

Irishjobs.ie appears to be the best. I applied for a lot of jobs through the various sites when i was made redundant last November, best is to filter out agencies & select employer only, i got all my applications answered when i did it that way & struck it lucky 2 weeks ago.

    Hi,

I was made redundant about three weeks ago so I'm on the look out at the moment. I find the following sites pretty useful:
    www.irishjobs.ie
www.fas.ie (follow the links to the job seeker section. Not the best layout IMO)
    www.jobs.ie
www.salesjobs.ie (if sales is what you're in)

Also, the local papers are worth a look as well as local notice boards in shops etc.
The Irish Independent on a Thursday runs a recruitment section. It used to be a 20 page pull out called Jobs & Careers but with the recession it's down to a few pages in the business section.
The Irish Times has a recruitment section on a Friday. I find these tend to be higher level jobs i.e. executive, management, CEO.

Every source is worth a look and don't forget the best one - word of mouth. Don't be ashamed to be unemployed. The more people know, the more people will offer help or suggestions or may hear of someone looking for someone just like you.
In the meantime, I try to keep as active mentally, physically and spiritually during the day.

    Good luck :)
