    Guys,

I got the Blackstar ht5 amp and cant quite get the tone im looking for outta it at the moment.

Im looking for that EVH trebley 'brown sound' and no matter what i do i cant reduce the bass enough.

Do you have a wah pedal Brendan?
If its a crybaby or vox type try experimenting with leaving the pedal 'on' and adjusting it in tiny increments to see if you can boost the treble frequencies to something usable. It should let you use more bass on your amp too for low end thump. Might be wort trying!

What have you got it hooked up to cab wise? Otherwise I am fairly sure that an eq pedal would get you where you want to be.

How about one of these: http://www.thomann.de/ie/bsm_treble_booster_rm.htm

I think there are also kits you can buy that are far cheaper.

You probably need to lose some low mids rather than bass. If you have an eq pedal lying around, it's worth a try.

I'd think about modding the amp input voicing or the tone stack rather than adding in a bunch of transistors (eq pedal) right between the guitar and the magic... but then, I touched a live mains wire a few months ago, so don't listen to me. :pac:
