    Excellent JW……….

There is an alternative to the Winter Biathlon called the Summer Biathlon where competitors run over a set course instead of skiing……..check out the link below.

    http://www.biathlon.net/summer.html

The Biathlon discipline tests the athlete to the limit of their endurance. It’s probably the best and most exciting part of the Winter Olympics to watch. It test the competitor in their strength, speed and total endurance over a difficult course and requires a steady hand to fire off five 50m shots in prone, knelling and standing positions.

Where did the Biathlon come from, like all shooting sports, it has its history and back ground in hunting and in particular to Military Winter Warfare etc……….check out link below.

But would the powers that be, allow the competitor to move with a loaded firearm??? :D:D

Nanny State aside for one moment, it can be hard enough getting people to do regular target shooting at times

The minister would probably call biathlon, winter practical shooting :D

It would be really cool though. Damn, have to lose the belly and sorta get fit an all that

the fire arm is only loaded on the firing point ,one range could be used with various courses set about it .the rifle could even left at this point .
the biathlon style targers could be used or game sizeed targets.

I think Wilkinstown Target Shooting Club ran a biathlon of sorts a few years ago. It was cycling and air rifle shooting.

I've been trying to persuade one of DURC's regular shooters to sort something similar out since he's involved in the cycling club in Trinity.

Yeah, it was a one-off charity event:

Clicked the link and read the story - very good. Then clicked the photogallery link and got a "FATAL ERROR"

Not a great message on a shooting link....:D:D

Yeah, a lot of the old photos were up on the DURC server, which has since been taken down (hopefully not permanently). Finding and fixing all the areas where a photo was linked to and fixing the link to a new link is a monumentally large job :(
