Does it annoy you when some Irish people particularily teens copy american culture. A lad in my school saying "dumpster" and wearing those sick out of date converse shoes. Are they just embarresed about their culture or what?
Especially when they call the Gardaí "cops". Jesus come on. Saying things like " Check it out " or "Pretty" eg : thats pretty cool.

    Any thoughts?

so because someone says there is no need for something, because it's an american thing, you shouldn't get one?

I don't give a fúck whether everyone gets them.

they're still ridiculous and not needed for 99% of the people who drive them on their 'school run' bollocks.

i've never met 1 single american yet who spoke like those idiots in teen dramas from the states.

if anyone is to blame, its the script writers and parents allowing their kids to watch such garbage in the first place.

its true, alot of teenagers in this country sound like those on the tv, but thats not real life!!

    turn off your TV's teenyboppers!!

Yes they are... Im expressing my opinion on the cars in question...

The people iv seen who own them in Ireland have no use for them whatsoever... They buy them for the bling factor and they would never buy them if they didnt see them on TV or rap videos...

Honestly why would someone want to own an Escalade in Ireland... For the same Price you could have an X5 or a Range Rover... Better car and better MPG

Same Goes for the Dodge Ram... Nissan Navara... Better car and Better MPG

    because they might like them???

I have no need for an iPod. But I still bloody have one! I bought a new touchscreen phone thing last week. didn't need it. But it's purdy. so I bought it. So people buy things because they like them! I wouldn't buy a micra cause I dont like them.

Well thats fair enough if they 'like' them, But the reason the majority buy them is for the image of driving a big American car

OK this thread is about "annoying Irish people copying americans"...

We've gone too far with this argument, iv expressed my opinion, you've expressed yours, i understand where your coming from, if someone wants to buy a car they like, by all means do it (different strokes for different folks) but i just feel the reason for the majority of people buying big american SUV's(ultimate americanism) is for the Wow factor that they see portrayed on TV associated with these cars... Ill leave my opinion at that!

I know Dublin gets a fair few spanish in for the summertime, but that hardly makes it East LA.

How can you speak for "the majority" of them? I'm sure some people feel that way, but I don't think you can make a general statement like that. If someone wants to buy a big American car for whatever reason, let them off. There are a lot of things that I'd love to have if I could afford them, but sadly I can't. If I could though, I probably would spend money on things that I didn't need or things that weren't at all practical or efficient.

Tbh, I doubt you know the 'majority' of them all, or even a few. unless you have a poll to back it up?
