My best tip would be to treat it as casually as possible, the last time I went out on a first date I had worked it up so much in my head that I was a crazy, neurotic, nervous mess. If you just think of it as hanging out with a friend then you should be grand.

I also learned not to drink too much, or mention ovulation.

Oh and dress comfortably, he might take you bowling (didn't see that coming).

Hope you have a great time ;)

Haya hayyyyyy! Thats the whole point - be scared silly!
It's the buzz of meeting someone new. They'll be sh1ting themselves too. So what generally happens is, both people will make an effort. It'll be a great buzz - go on ya good thing!

Soak it up. It's a great feeling when you think about it. Nothing like getting the pump thumping to know you're still alive

Relax, be yourself and Que sa ra sa ra....

Don't allow yourself to run away with expectations. Take it as it comes. Keep busy beforehand and don't overthink things...

if there are any uncomfortable silences don't worry about it, take a second, take a breath, give him a comforting smile. introduce a topic - not your ex!

Just be yourself and don't worry if there's a silence here or there. No one can keep up a complete stream of conversation for the whole time, it's perfectly normal! Hope it's a good date, best of luck! Let us know how you got on. :)

Well, one glass and not the bottle - you don't want to be TOO relaxed!

Just be yourself, afterall he asked you out - remember that!! He likes you already!!!

    Don't get drunk.
    Don't discuss any exes.
Ask lots of questions about the other person.

Relax and be yourself m'dear - 'tis all very exciting. It's OK to have butterflies! Reminds us we're alive.:)

Hi, my advice is just to enjoy yourself, enjoy the chemistry buzz and fun of getting to know someone new. My practical tips (from experience!) are if you're going for a meal, always carry a toothpick with you and slip into the toilets after the meal to make sure your smile looks just as good as it did before the meal! :-)

I was in a similar situation- was in a long term relationship which ended last year, dated a few bad boys, then thanks to facebook got back in touch with a guy i dated a few times back in college.
Then came the nervousness- from what to wear to what if we hate each other thing. Planned the outfit, got on brilliant! then I don't remember leaving the pub (we started drinking games at the end of the night and it hit me all of a sudden), dragged him into BK's for food, he walked to to nightlink, my shoes were too big for me and couldn't walk in them, ended up falling and taking them off then giving him abuse for being an ass in college to me.....well we're still dating 2 months later so seemed to go well!!

So the moral of the story is.....don't drink too much and definitely don't start any drinking games! have fun and just be yourself!

lol that's the best part of the first date! Dont worry just be yourself and relax and go easy! I love the silence when dating... everytime there is silence you could always put in a little joke like saying "guess what?!....." they say "what?" "... good guess!!" :D i love that one i do (i know im a bit weird :))

    Down to the practicles:
    • don’t over dress
    • Don’t wear too much makeup, no false eyelashes, nails, lipstick is messy, and needs constant attention, also might look like your trying too hard. Go lip gloss.
    • If wearing heels, (we all love them, instant confidence, and they make your ass look so good) slip pumps into your bag, avoids the walking with shoes in hand look. Also doesn’t limit what ye can get up to.
    • Speaking of getting up to stuff, hide contraception in the darkest corner of your wallet. You really never know.
    • Avoid padded bras/ knickers etc, false advertising.
    • Turn your phone on silent, nothing worse than nosey friends.
    • make sure you have cash on you, you never know just how expensive things can be (bottle of wine, too many rounds, popcorn etc)
    • oh yea, men love red, and it is scientifically proven to raise the heart rate...
Having a few drinks, might ease the nerves.God... enjoy it. He obviously wants to be there as much as you, if not ye wouldn’t be going on a date.
Im green with envy... in a four year relationship... serious lack of romance.

    Oh the excitement...enjoy....

First dates are horrible aren't they?! :o

It is easy to say relax but we all know that never happens. Just have a glass of wine as you are getting ready to calm the nerves but don't get drunk!

Make yourself look the best you can and you will feel good and hopefully that should help the nerves.

    Put your phone on silent.

Ask questions about him to take the pressure off yourself.

Be happy and smiley, if you are nervous just joke about it saying sorry I am a bit nervous, remember he will be too!!

My bf was terrified before he picked me up for our first date but we got on great, just let it flow, don't think too much!

    Where are you going?

    Sorry for hijacking this post.

What kind of questions could somebody ask on a first date without it looking like an interview.

I joined up to an online dating site not so long ago, and will be meeting somebody very soon. Am very nervous.

First dates are sensational- it's just a question of persepective...

Go with the interview idea. Everyone know that it basically is a job interview. One question leads to the next.

I went on one recently and we both agreed that pauses are almost inevitable and we won't make a thing about them. It's a good pact, IMO...
