Need a Job...

I didn't know where to put there so i'm putting it here as its kinda a "personal issue"...
Anyway, i've kinda realised its time for me to get a job... But looking at the current economic condition and the fact that i've never worked before i'm not sure if i'll be able to find one.

Now i think i have many skills. Like i've got a good knowledge of music, musical instruments and production stuff, i've got good knowledge of photography, i've got good knowledge of bicycles and their parts, components etc., i know decent bit about computers and technology, i'm a bit into sailing and such too, i'ld say i've got good intellectual abilities as i managed to get into medschool and i've got okay communication skills (i think...).

But lately it seems that all that doesn't matter and all that matters is previous work experience and/or contacts. And i've got neither.

So i'm not sure how its gonna work out for me as i desperately wanna have a job for myself for the summer and my friend told my there's no way i could get one over the summer so its best to start looking for one now...
I just don't really know where to go and what to do as i've got no experience of the whole thing...
So wondering if anyone of ye with any knowledge could help me set off in a direction or something... Or maybe just let me know the chances of me getting a part time job.

If i could be able to get a job in like a music store or a camera store or a bicycle store or a boat/sail store, that would be amazingly super! But i doubt there are many of those around looking for new people to work...

Dunno about photography/guitar stores man, but I was in the exact same situation as you a few years before, so I did a TEFL cert, it worked well as a temporary stop gap thing, they also look for experience but it equalizes the balance nicely. Alternatively why not join a covers band or something like that. Job situation really stinks, if you find yourself stuck in the middle of nowhere for the summer you could avail of the free time to really improve skills you have, eg guitar, practicing like 10 hours a day learning shred. Thats what I did one summer.

^sorry for my ignorance but what exactly is a TEFL cert and how does that work?

And i do plan on setting up a band over the summer but i really really doubt that'll be able to generate enough (or any) money for my needs. I'm looking to become financially independent and basically wanna buy a car or a motorbike towards the end of the year...
So i really need a job!

If you've got no job, the next best thing is to use the time you've got to do something you want to do. Trust me - when you do get a job, you'll have much less time on your hands.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

^Ooh...Looks like something i could do too... As i'ld say i can speak decent english. I also write songs, poems and stuff so i do know how to use words and stuff (although it might not appear from my posts a lot! :p)...

I've been doing that for the past 3 years now mate. I've got enough time to do the things i want to and over the summer if i don't have a job, i'll just spend the summer sitting on my ass watching television or on the internet. So i really need the job mate! Need the money... And maybe even the experience of interacting with people, being financially independent and such.

If like me, you listen to NiN a lot but at the same time can actually hold a proper conversation with someone, then apply to about every place you can. We are all working jobs that are not ideal for us, but choice is limited at the minute. What would be an idea is if you get involved in music further. Try applying for jobs in music stores and print up a CV for yourself.

The CV is the easiest part, just basically glorify yourself in it.
The interview is what decides whether or not you get the job. You gotta stay positive man, go in looking and acting like you are the guy for the job and that hiring you would be their best decision.

It is just all about balance really. If your job is awesome, then you tend to be better at it and a lot happier.

If the job just plain sucks, then get involved in other things at the same time like clubs and societies or any random / interesting club in your town.

Architects are getting jobs in McDonalds to pay the bills at the moment, If you are young and have no experience, you need to start at the bottom, as soon as you do get a job, however basic it is, then you can start looking for work in your field, whatever you decide that may be.

    ...

Are you in med school now?
When I was studying med I used to work as a nurses aid in my Summer holidays. Its really crappy work but pays decent enough and will get you out of the house

Yup, i'm just in 1st year though. But i guess working in a hospital wouldn't be too bad. Might also help me with my course, getting familiar with how the hospital works n all...
    I'll look into that too...
    Thanks!
