i bought a dvd recorder as a present for someone in October or November that i got from boffer.co.uk. However recently the person i bought it for said that they found that it isnt working properly

I looked it up on the net
    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=739650

Apparently its a dodgy model and for some reason there was a sky movie recorded on the hard drive (none of us have sky)

Will BOffer refund me? The model seems dodgy so there is no point getting another one the same.

www.boffer.co.uk only offer a 90 day warranty on most of the goods they sell so you're probably out of look there.
However on reading through their T&C it does state that their policies do not affect your statutory rights.Under your statutory rights you are entitled to a refund, replacement or repair if (a)the goods are not as described,(b)goods are not of merchantable quality (c)goods are not fit for their intended use. There isn't a 90 day time limit on those rights. I'd say you might have a fight on your hands but if they sold you an item that has a known fault then I think you'd have a good enough chance of getting a refund out of them. Also they have a reputation to protect and selling dodgy items isn't going to help that.
I might be wrong but that would be my take on it.
