Hi all, been offered a fridge to hang my deer in, its a coke bottle fridge, you know the one, you see them in shops full of soft drinks, anyway, here is the advice i need, are they any good for hanging deer for 7-14 days?, it can go down to 0.5c and up to 3.5c, approx 4 feet high on the inside.

    thanks.

No use at all!!!! :D I'll take it off your hands!!!

No honestly they're ideal. 14 days is a bit long for hanging venison unless you plan on shooting manky rutting stags? You should get a frame welded up and galvanised, cost me 60€ to get done, for hanging the carcass, and 2 small thermometers, 1 for the top of the fridge and one for the bottom, just to see the temperature differential, you don't really want to be hanging to close to 0 degrees - below 6 is ok.

How much are you getting it for, if you don't mind my asking? I'll be looking for something similar come September.

I thought that when you are hanging meat, air circulation was very important.
Would there be any circulation in a fridge?

If hanging it in such a fridge works, then is it okay to leave the butchered meat in the fridge for a few days to help tenderise?
I have a lot to learn!
