    Hi,

I have 2 of these which were given to me a couple of years ago- someone thought I could use them and now I have dusted them down and looking at them with some incomprehension .....

I have two woofers and am assuming I am missing something. Each has a power lead, treble and woofer volume controls and at the back inputs for satellite and speaker.

I would like to hook these up and get some sound - is this possible - what should I do?

    Cheers in advance.

The HK395s came with Dell desktops a few years back.
You say you have 2 woofers...are you sure about that? The set should comprise one subwoofer and 2 satellites.
If you have 2 woofers then they are the subwoofers from 2 different sets of the speakers.
The problem is that you also need the satellites to produce the midrange/treble. These would normally connect to the subwoofer (which has an in-built amplifier). You would then run a lead to the subwoofer from your audio source, which in turn drives the satellites. The woofers on their own aren't really much good.
Might be an idea to post up a pic of what exactly you have.
Here's a pic of the set:

Which parts do you have and which are you missing?

    Wertz,

Thanks for your reply. So it seems I have 2 subwoofers! They came from an office I used to work in - clearing out the stockroom.

Do you think there is anything I can do with them? Or maybe I should hunt down the speakers ....

    Thanks,

Without knowing how the satellites connect to the main unit, it's hard to say. Maybe you could get a pic of the back of the unit...
Could be that any old bookshelf type speaker will work, just hooked up the +/- push terminals...or it could be that you need speakers with a certain type of jack to connect to some proprietary terminal.

If you hook one of these up now as it stands you'll get the bass frequencies from the sound (in mono) and nothing else. It might be an idea to do this to make sure they work before you spend anything further on adding sats.
