Just got an email there to attend an assessment center for the internship programme with KPMG, (thought all that would have been done away with when the cutbacks happened but apparently not!!)
has anyone any information or feedback about their e-tray and written business excercises?? I assume it would be normal business attire also??

    thanks

I did the e-tray last November in the milkround and didn't find it too difficult. In my case, the exercise involved replying to emails. I had just moved from one department to another, in whatever company I "worked" for. Kept receiving emails and had to chose 1 of 4 responses. I think there was about 12 emails in all, relating to 4/5 different projects. As I said it wasn't too difficult, and I think 7 from 8 were finished in time.

Everyone got the same e-tray, but the written business exercises were on different topics. I can't remember what mine was on, but the topics were all current at the time. Would probably be good to understand the Anglo Irish/IL&P deposits + directors loans. Bord Gais undercutting ESB. The ECB and their "quantitative easing". If you are going for tax, maybe think of what changes you would make in upcoming budget.

Having said all that, both exercises don't carry much weight. They only really come into play if after the interviews they are undecided between 2/3 candidates. Or so we were told anyway. The interviews are much more important. And yep, normal business attire.

Dont be afraid to say no on the E-Tray either.

What I mean by that is you get bombarded with emails requesting you to do things from different people. I can imagine some people feel the right thing to do is to always accept the work but in reality if you do that you will never get anything done satisfactorily. Accept the work that you feel you could realistically do well and politely refuse stuff you just dont have time for. It shows you can plan and organise your time and do your work efficiently.

As Alyosha said though apparently the exercises dont count for a huge amount.

Do have a flick through the business section of the papers and be reasonably well up on current affairs so you can answer the Business exercise.
