can someone explain to me how this works
my uncle has invited me down to his course for the official handover to him next weekend and i'm not sure what the hell will be going on
i'd be a tad nervous bout hittin a drive off if there were a load of spectators around etc
might just play it safe with an 8 or 9 iron off the tee - usually i can catch them well sweet

I think fi you just used an 8 or 9 then people would be wondering who this fruitcake is with our new captain, unless its a par 3, Maybe try a 3 or 5 wood. Anyway, in fairness I wouldn't think people would care a lot about how you hit, its more the tradition. Picture them all naked if it helps!

Captain's drive in is usually just the Captain & Lady Captain teeing off (1 shot), it's for show really. Generally there is a competition after this with a shotgun start, so no crowds watching you tee off. DO NOT TEE OFF WITH AN 8 IRON, EVEN IF YOUR SCENARIO IS CORRECT, IT WOULD ONLY DRAW ATTENTION ON YOU AS A NUTTER.
    Enjoy the day anyway.

ye're right lads, got a call there last night and i'm not expected to hit anything - other than the bar counter
had me sh**tin it there for a day or so
captains drive in seems like a bit of a poncefest tho
fair enough i know you have to mark the occasion but having both captains kit out etc and then just hit one drive, bit ridiculous if you ask me
