    Distal radius fracture.

Had to have surgery to realign the bone as it was a fair bit off. Wasn't as painful as I would have thought.

Hmm.. Nail through my foot was prob the worst but also flying over the handle bars of a 20 foot jump was as painfull..
    .

I slid off a low roof in the rain, and landed on my feet.

Unfortunately one of those feet was on a plank of wood with two nine-inch nails throught it. Went all the way through my foot, both of them.

Broken leg as a 6 week old baby.

Still, got a nice little compensation out of it nearly 18 years later :)

I went through a window when I was 12, sliced the muscles that control my small & ring fingers and servered an arterey, took 283 stitches and a blood tranfussion, regained control of my fingers when I was 14(with theropy) and now(9 years later) its like it never happened, except for the scar.

Broken left shin; Was driving a suzuki gs500 (a motorbike in case you hadn't guessed) on the coast road in clontarf at about 10/15mph as it was a busy road..
Car comes slowly from side road - also going about 10/15mph - and drives into my left leg making a lovely sambo. CAR + shin + Bike = shin cracks. It was my tibia which broke (the big one in the front).

I had to get a tibial nail inserted - the cut yer knee open, move the kneecap and then put a piece of metal right down the centre of the bone. They also make incisions near the side of your knee and ankle so they can put screws through, to hold the tibial nail to the bone.

I couldn't walk for 7 months and the steel is still in my leg (3 and a bit years later) and always will be. Also have a weakish left knee and ankle due to it.

The plus side I did get renumeration for the horrible accident and I have recovered enough to continue martial arts training.. yayyy! :)

Worst ever was a bullet in the thigh, that hurt like hell. Missed the bone though so could have been worse I guess.

The scar is awesome though, great talking point!

*Injury sustained during military service, not robbing a bank!

I punctured a lung at work a few years ago, worst pain ever invented. Id say a broken rib could be as sore though

I broke my metatarsal when I was 3. The country came to a standstill in mourning. You might see it on Reeling in the Years.

Also broke my tibia playing football nearly a year ago.

I had the nails of my middle and ring finger ripped out right from the roots and left hanging by a tiny bit of skin at the end.

More than a little bit painful tbh.

Dislocated my elbow running across the road in the rain. Taxi reversed in front of me, ttried to move out of his way and slipped on the wet tarmac.

My radius and ulna were left about halfway up my humerus. Wasn't funny. lol

Seriously thogh, that was pretty nasty. 3 weeks out of work, 5 months in a sling, 6 months physio afterwards.

I broke my left collar bone one and right one twice, at different times, palying sports, messing around.
fractured my skull, falling off a bike when a kid.
broke a rib (someone punched me)
but most painful was tearing ligaments on left ankle (football)...

    ...however funniest was my brother...
he shared a house with two girls and was leaving for work one morning. Was closing the front door (big old door) by giving it a big pull / slamming it. He realized he forgot his keys, made a grad for the door, but too late. The door closed fully, cutting off the top of his middle finger. However it remained attached to the rest of his figure with bits of flesh, skin etc etc, but inside the closed door. So now he was stuck. He rang the bell, whilst screaming, his hose mate came down, reached to open the door and saw the blood and dangling finger and fainted. He continued to scream and the 2nd girl came down saw the blood, saw fainted girl etc and though there was a mad-man outside the front door, after attacking the first unconscious girl etc, wouldn't open the door for ages..........eventually opened the door, called 999, finger top was sown back on, but he cannot feel it, move it etc....

Once i had one of them legendary turds you only hear about around the campfire..
Anyhow, it nearly split me in a half.. it took an hour for a hole to close up. Never again Dunnes sausages.

Snapped my collar bone in half, just about stayed under the skin... Was horrible cause I didn't remember when I woke up the next morning...

Never have a fight with a mop when your drunk...

Remember a lad I once knew playin football, he was in goal and someone took a shot, he jumped up and missed the ball, when he came back down everyone's face went pale, his finger got caught in the net and stayed there...

The moment of realization was priceless!

missed some fecker's face with my fist and my hand went through reinforced glass (that stuff with the wire through it)

tore my had to shreds lost a bucket load of blood, ruined a stone roses Teeshirt of and severed the tendon in my "bird" finger. nice German doctors put it back together though, cos not being able to move that finger would have been too funny

When I was 9, I ran out from behind some bushs in front of a car on chapolizod hill Dublin and leg went under front wheel .I had a big open gash on right instep. Just as well he wasn't going fast .Went looking for the spot a few years ago and was disapointed to find chapolizod hill no longer exists .

broke my ankle in 2 places, had to cycle about a mile home to be brought to the hospital(pre-mobile days)

got hit by a car mainly just shock from being hit by a car

also caught a bit of my nutsack while zipping up my school trousers, again shock was the main injury

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,600 ✭✭✭00112984

Someone once jumped on my foot and broke my big toe when I was 17. I'd already broken my ankle three times at that stage (have done it again since) and was reasonably tough so, when I heard the toe go, I didn't expect the pain to be bad. God, I was wrong.

The worst thing was in the hospital. I'm about 5' 11" (fairly tall for a girl) and not especially dainty but, as I was limping into X-ray, I had to stop in the hall and hold onto the wall because I could feel myself starting to black out from the pain.

Along comes this little 4' 10" **** of a Chinese doctor, sees me towering over him, crying in pain with my broken, purple toe exposed and the little pratt bursts out laughing and starts saying "aah, big girl no likey sore little toe. Ahahahahahaha. You not tough!".

I swear, he was lucky I couldn't walk because I would have plastered his head onto the far-over wall for him.
